The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth closed its auditorium two weeks ago, and the space will remain closed for upgrades through August 3, 2023.

Upon reopening, the museum's new exhibition "Picturing the American West" will be on view.

As with all currently reopened museums, the Blanton announced its safety protocols due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The overall experience was good — and for the brave souls who ventured out, the risks seemed low.

Two other North Texas museums, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Meadows Museum at SMU, are scheduled to open this week.

Since we reported on openings in Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston recently, more museums have reopened.

With announcements from the Kimbell and the Modern Art Museum earlier today, all three major Fort Worth fine art museums now have reopenings scheduled.

The Museum also announced its lineup for the ongoing "Modern TV" online film series.

The Kimbell's special exhibition, 'Flesh and Blood: Italian Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum,' has been extended through July.

For the time being, museums won't be considered a boring outing, a field trip, or an on-the-fly pleasure: the effort behind donning a mask and going through the timed-ticket rigmarole will make museum visits purposeful. It will make them special.
