After competing in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona (single canoe 500 and 1000 meter events), Spaulding completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Connecticut in 1996.

"Conceived as a narrative that evokes Austin’s natural environment and its urban cityscape, the mural features Parlá’s characteristic traces of collage, pulled impasto surfaces, and signature calligraphic marks."

"Paris-based artist Raphaël Barontini uses photographic imagery on textiles to create installations that conjure spectacle, celebration and ritual."
