Top Five: July 30, 2020. Our Favorite Texas-Flavored Contemporary Artworks

by Glasstire July 30, 2020

Christopher Blay and Christina Rees run down some of their favorite artworks that could only be made by Texans in Texas.

“Some of these we would happily say almost fall into the category of kitsch. I don’t even know that the artists would have a problem with that.”

Thanks for Going-all-out-Texan and selecting 6 for the top 5.
Admittedly I am easily charmed by any art that unashamedly embraces its Texas, especially when its picks are a fusion of humor, satire and provides a new perspective to a Texas cliche. The list was gratifying but sparked a craving for more- maybe some chicken flavored?
I look forward to next year’s Glasstire Texas art tasting menu. A sampling of works by Texas chicks would add some piquancy to the all-beef chef’s recommendations of 7/30/20.

The Passover piece is just west of the Guadalupes.
