The Idea Fund has awarded $5,000 grants to 12 projects by Houston-based artists in its 18th annual granting cycle.

The Idea Fund has announced its annual open call for Houston-area artists and collectives.

The Idea Fund, a re-granting program funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, is accepting applications from Houston-area artists and collectives.

The grantees will be selected by a three-person jury panel who will look for innovative, experimental, public-facing visual art projects.

"This year’s Idea Fund seeks to support new projects developed by Black, Indigenous, and POC artists and encourages creative projects that raise awareness of local social and cultural issues."

The application process begins today and will continue through April 27.

$59,000 was granted to 14 artists' projects.

The Idea Fund supports individual artists, curators, collectives, collaboratives or partnerships in the greater Houston area. Applications are now open.

Projects awarded in 2019 include a podcast focusing on the voices of queer and transgender people of color, a new art space in Galveston, a video by JooYoung Choi, and more.
