Details of the upcoming James Turrell commission at Houston’s Rice University were posted on Swamplot friday. Calling the piece a “giant ceremonial mound,” Swamplot’s scrappy  posting includes drawings of the new structure, a flat-topped pyramid housing a seating area for viewers that will sit in front of the Shepherd School of Music. The $6 million dollar structure, funded by “eclipse chaser” Rice Trustee Suzanne Deal Booth,  is slated to break ground later this month.
