It was announced yesterday, via Hello Project’s Indiegogo campaign, that Houston’s McMurtrey Gallery will be closing its doors. Though it seems that the space will be closed soon, it does have an upcoming show scheduled to open Saturday, September 12th and run through October 17th. It is unclear if this will be the gallery’s last show.
Congratulations to Roni McMurtrey for a great 35 years!

Congratulations, Roni, on a job well done. You will be missed!
Sorry to hear this! Roni has been one of the best long running shows in town, and we’ll miss her and her artists (who will no doubt turn up elsewhere in town – I hope).
Sad to see such a respected gallery, one with such integrity, close the doors. Roni is truly a wonderful person. She will be missed by both artists and collectors. May the next chapter be even better!!
Thanks Roni for so many years of dedication to the arts and the many careers you have fostered.
I Have been with McMurtrey Gallery for 34 of the galleries 35 years.
I have been most fortunate to have had Roni as my gallerist and best friend.
Roni has given soooooo very much to this art community.
Lucky me .. Lucky Houston!!
I am looking forward to exhibiting my new work Sept 12-October 17th.
Sad news! One of the best galleries in Houston
Sad because it is a great gallery for Houston to lose but Roni, you are the best.
How can I go on? McMurtrey Gallery was one of Houston’s finest venues. I will miss the wonderful group of artists who were assembled there, and the beautiful exhibits every month. Thank you for all you gave to Houston!!
so sad to lose a long term Houston gallery that hosted some of my best friend artists from Austin, thanks to Roni for a great run!
