Ex-Texan Shazia Sikander, Macarthur Award winner, is having a show at the Museum of contemporary Art, Sydney, Australia. Born in Pakistan, Sikander studied painting in the Indo-Persian miniaturist tradition, before relocating to the US in 1993. A Core Fellow at Houston’s MFAH from 1995-97, her first solo show in the US was at Barbara Davis Gallery. Curated by MCA Senior Curator Rachel Kent, the MCA exhibition will include a site specific work which the artist will create over a two-week period in the lead up to the opening of the exhibition on 27 November. Shahzia Sikander runs at the MCA from 27 November 2007 until 17 February 2008.
