The curator Walter Hopps, Founding Director of the Menil Collection, died Sunday morning, March 20, in Los Angeles. Hopps was known, and loved, for his brilliance, his catholic sensibility, and particularly for his empathetic understanding of artists, their work and their lives. He will be missed.
