From Un Grito Gallery:
“Un Grito Gallery is pleased to present “Talisman” by Mary Wuest. This solo exhibition of ceramic works will open Thursday, May 2nd and Friday, May 3rd, 2024, from 7-10 pm with a closing reception held on May 16th, 2024.
Mary Wuest is a ceramic artist and educator. She sees working with clay as a metaphor for life- an endlessly mold-able, process-driven, potentially disastrous endeavor that never fails to surprise and delight. Working with a variety of clay bodies, Wuest talks about how we are shaped (and shape each other) through our proximity to power.
“The work in Talisman is predicated on the idea that art is a talisman. Art brings us beauty, joy, and good fortune. Art gives us a refuge, a vantage point for observing the world. We make it, it defines us. We believe it, it connects us. We give it power, it protects us. Art is where (and how) we fashion a better world and bring it to reality.”
Mary Wuest works and lives in San Antonio, TX.”
