Susurrus (an obscure onomatopoeic word meaning a whispering or rustling sound) is Scottish playwright David Leddy’s audio/theater experiment that turns a walk in the park into a drama. Audiences listen to poignant narrative snippets on individual audio players while following a route Leddy has specifically designed through the gardens of Laguna Gloria. Based on A Midsummer Nights’ Dream, Susurrus was a hit at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival. The Guardian then wrote of it, “There are moments when location and content come together so powerfully that your eyes moisten and your heart lurches.”
