Critic Ken Johnson praised Rackstraw Downes‘ plein-air paintings like Pulaski Skyway Crossing the Hackensack River in this morning’s New York Times, calling them "engagingly intimate", even as he admitted they "could be mistaken for copies of wide angle photographs".
