March 8 - April 27, 2024
From Inman Gallery:
“In the south gallery, we present Linarejos Moreno: On the Geography of Green. In this photographic series, carried out between 2016–2022 in abandoned drive-in theaters of Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, Madrid-based artist Moreno explores landscape from a decolonized, gender-informed perspective. Utilizing the methods of representation first used by early explorers of the American continent – the juxtaposition of images and data – Moreno translates these methods to the present in a way that interrogates the colonial and patriarchal gaze through which the history of landscape representation has been constructed.
Linarejo Moreno (b. Madrid, Spain, lives and works in Madrid, Spain) has won countless awards for her photographic and installation work, including a Ankaria Photo International Prize for 21st Century Photography for her “On The Geography of Green” series. Moreno came to the US to participate in the ISCP residency in New York, and from 2012-2014, she was an invited Fulbright Scholarship researcher at Rice University. Her work has been exhibited widely in Spain and France, with US exhibitions at Inman Gallery and the TransArt Foundation in Houston. On the Geography of Green is presented as part of the 2024 Fotofest Biennial.”
