From Palo Alto College:
“MEGAN HARRISON
For the past 3 years Megan Harrison’s work has responded to experiences of grief after the death of her second son, born still in 2020, and the unexpected death of her mother this summer. This exhibition, The Visit, speaks to experiences surrounding the death of a loved one, how we attend to their body and how we process the objects and ephemera that remain. The performative and object-based artworks ask how we take our place among past, present and future generations and how we can honor the process of unfurling and dissolving histories.
Megan Harrison earned a BFA from Metropolitan State University of Denver, 2008, and an MFA from the University of Texas San Antonio, 2012. Her work has exhibited nationally and internationally, including works on permanent display at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, City Hall of San Antonio and Metropolitan State University of Denver. She has been awarded artist residencies in Vermont, Colorado, Berlin Germany and Lanzarote of the Canary Islands. Locally, in San Antonio, she has participated in exhibitions at the McNay Art Museum and has had solo exhibitions at Sala Diaz and The Contemporary at Blue Star.”
