December 9 - 29, 2023
From Dock Space Gallery:
“Dock Space Gallery’s December show features artwork from Rachael Duke, Braulio Gutierrez, and Donovan Martinez. Duke is a sculptor and self-described “artivist,” creating art focused on current social issues. Inspired by Bett Butler’s poem “Disinvitation to the Dance,” Duke comments on the disenfranchisement of women voters. Donovan Martinez’s creative process revolves around the inherent challenges of his chosen mediums, including wood, steel, and cement. These challenges yield moments of calm and clarity which are ultimately reflected in his final artworks. Braulio Ivan Gutierrez Gonzales calls his style of work ‘Conceptual Deconstruction’ and makes interactive works out of a variety of materials. These works are a representation of some trials he’s had and how he overcame those and created works out of them.
Opening Reception is Saturday, December 9th from 6-9 pm during the Second Saturday Artwalk in the Lone Star Art District. The show will be up through November and the gallery is open by appointment. Call Bill FitzGibbons at 210-723-3048 to view outside of the reception times.”
