November 5 - 26, 2023
From Mystic Lyon:
“Mystic Lyon presents a new window installation and fundraiser by Houston artist Damon Thomas. Featuring 31 pit-fired and glazed ceramics bats, “August Bats” by Damon Thomas will be on view through the closing ceremony and reception on November 26. The title is derived from Thomas’ making of one bat each day through the month of August, as a meditative practice of slowing down during the summer heat. Each bat is handmade and unique, with the atmospheric effects of the firing adding more individuality to each piece. They are approximately 14” in length.
The bats are offered for sale for $120 each, with 50% of the proceeds going to Mystic Lyon.
From Damon Thomas: “This installation of 31 pit-fired and glazed bats is called “August Bats.” I made one bat each day during that super hot month, as a form of meditation and slowing down in the heat. The bates are about 14” long and look amazing in small groupings.”
