From Janette Kennedy Gallery:
“In their first ever collaborative exhibition, Tim Vahle and Tom Cook present a series of landscapes that are the result of a mutual devotion to celebrating the natural world, as well as exploring the idea of deeper fraternity, and how spending time together exploring remote, inspiring locations might affect each other’s creative journeys. Vahle’s creative process includes a dedication to the traditional Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, or “forest bathing” while producing his initial en plein air studies. He then uses these studies in his Dallas studio to inform his larger, more finished landscapes in oil. Cook’s creative process involves careful observation, often involving the use of exposures of several minutes. This way of working harkens back to the beginnings of photography, and often reveals aspects of a scene that simply cannot be seen or captured with a simple glance or click of the shutter. . . . and yet there is Beauty is a celebration of the invaluable experiences of two artists who continue to seek truth, clarity and meaning together, in settings that inspire and excite.”
