From South Texas College:
“Brownsville-based printmaker, Cecilia Sierra, earned a BFA from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Sierra’s work is heavily inspired by South Texas’ ecology, community, and nostalgia from growing up in a Hispanic household.
Artist Calder Kamin transforms trash into beautifully crafted creatures to inspire others to be creative and proactive about the future. As an environmental advocate, Kamin is motivated by nature’s endless ability to reuse and adapt.
On November 1, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., the artists will talk about their artistic process, background, and inspiration, and there will be a hands-on workshop about incorporating recycled material into artwork.”
