From Moncrief Cancer Institute:
“In Grove, Sarah Theurer Hunt investigates connections between the natural landscape and archetypes of the feminine. Paintings on canvas and paper focus on walks through the nocturnal terrain, while considering traditions of maternal labor, evening respite and records of time. Using layers of embossing, glazing and wax, Hunt invites the viewer to walk with the works, approaching the environments from multiple directions in order to see the full picture. “Grove” references metaphors between natural world and female power, while inviting the ambiguity of darkness to consider connections to uncertainty and fear. Sarah Theurer Hunt received her BFA in Studio Art with a second major in Art Education from Brigham Young University in 2012. Her work looks at moving through spaces as an exploration of time, and how sites are activated by the presence of a viewer. Originally from Massachusetts, she lives and works in Fort Worth. Hunt is currently in the last year of her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at TCU.”
