“The School of Art and Design’s annual Student Juried Exhibition celebrates the distinguished work of Texas State University students. Join us via Zoom on June 1 at 12 PM CDT for an online awards presentation and lecture by 2021 Student Juried Exhibition Juror Christopher Blay. Use this link to register for the event.
Christopher Blay is a Houston-based artist and writer with a B.F.A. from Texas Christian University. He is currently the News Editor at Glasstire Magazine and was previously the curator of the Art Corridor Galleries at Tarrant County College, Southeast. Blay makes work about being black in America and uses science fiction, humor, and current events to navigate that experience. Most of his work has been installations and conceptual work using photography, painting, video, and sculpture. The former Carter Community Artist and Moss/Chumley Award recipient has also received a Nasher Sculpture Microgrant, as well as The Otis and Velma Davis Dozier travel grant from the Dallas Museum. His public works include the ongoing East Rosedale Monument Project and Dindi (for Annibel) in Dallas Coombs Creek Park near Oak Cliff.
