From Texas State University:
“Back to Abnormal is an art exhibition featuring a diverse collection of works from BFA Thesis students enrolled in the School of Art and Design at Texas State University. Each student will be exhibiting one work at the Texas State Galleries, and their body of thesis work on the exhibition website.
The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled us to not only communicate in a different manner through our everyday interaction but also through the way in which we are communicating in our artworks and the way the artworks are being viewed. As we return to what has been cited as the “new normal” there is an uneasy expectation. In our search to define a new way to interact with one another we have created new decorum. In order to adjust our standard exhibition practices, each artist will be presenting one piece of work “in the flesh” while also having a full body of work online- including a statement by each artist offering further insight to their artwork.
The exhibition at Texas State Galleries will be open April 25–May 14 for those wishing to experience the artwork in person. Due to pandemic protocol, we are also offering several artworks online that can be viewed virtually. As of May 7, the entirety of Spring 2021 BFA Thesis work will be available virtually at
http://bfa2021springwp.txstate.edu. The exhibition will be available virtually ad infinitum. The official website for the Texas State Galleries is https://txstgalleries.org/”
