March 14 - April 25, 2020
DARDEN SMITH is one of the legendary Texas singer-songwriters who also create visual art. His work is in the permanent collection of Austin’s Facebook Campus, as well as in other corporate and private collections.
Mark Smith’s newly reorganized gallery in Johnson City will present Smith’s show, WHAT I SEE WHEN I SEE YOU, a collection of original works on paper and hand-colored, limited-edition etchings created at Austin’s Flatbed Press.
At this Preview Opening, Darden will give a short talk and perform songs related to the art. Also, Mark Smith (no relation) will be available to explain the etching process.
This singer-songwriter exhibition—the first of Mark Smith’s Big Onion series—will be a memorable event. As an attendee to this Preview, you will have first choice at collecting your favorites from Darden Smith’s intimate and poetic works.
Proceeds from a silent auction of one of Darden’s works will go to support SongwritingWith:Soldiers.
