A one-day park exhibition of sculpture, painting, drawing, and installation.
Curated by Bradley King.
This group show exists through mutual fascination and “community” rather than by curatorial concept. Though, taken together, the various pieces do share common concerns: a realistic tone that is neither ironic or spiritual; a sort of materiality that is interested in bodies, ecology, and geometry; and an understated struggle with presence and sincerity through the work of art. Our title suggests a loose and perhaps uneasy sense of connection- a gesture of empathy, which also makes an assumption of identification. “I am at a place just like that” also nods to the oddness of the exhibition space, as it voices something you might say to someone who you are trying to meet at the park.
