“Working from the late 1960s to the present, Jose Vargas explores a wide variety of themes and styles. Some of the areas of interest that inspire the artist’s work include music, fantasy, dream states, portraiture, the human heart (El Corazón), Mexican cultural and religious icons such as La Virgen de Guadalupe, Frida Kahlo and Day of the Dead imagery, spiritual beliefs, steampunk musical instruments, automobiles, and many other whims and personal journeys. This exhibition is curated by Tina Medina.”
