Beginning Sunday, October 23 in Houston, artist Jesse Lott will present a series of demonstrations and workshops showcasing his process of creating sculptures using found and industrial materials. These events are part of Lott’s 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award in the Visual Arts exhibition currently on view at Art League Houston (ALH).
Jesse Lott
Lott is a longtime Houston artist who, for the past 40 years, has been creating works he calls “Urban Frontier Art.” His process involves the recycling of discarded materials to create art from the detritus of modern society. Also, Lott’s Artists in Action program helped inspire the creation of Houston’s Project Row Houses.
In addition to tomorrow’s demonstration, which is free with registration, ALH is offering four more workshops with Lott: two on his technique of creating paper figurative sculptures, and two on his technique of creating wire sculptures:
