About the Exhibition:
On the Edge, Al Borde is a multi-media art exhibition curated by our Executive Director, Maritza Bautista. The exhibit showcases the artwork of eight up-and-coming young Laredo artists that explore edgy themes, reflective of contemporary art practices. The artists are Alexander Barron, Alejandro Cortinas, Genesis Victoria Hernandez, Kassandra Romero, Homero Salazar, Raul Seca, Jr., Gabriela Treviño, and Martha Viera. All of the artists are native to Laredo and have exhibited their works at various venues locally, creating a buzz about how they use materials, found objects, and their personal lives to speak on topics like animal rights, women’s autonomy, border culture, and chronic health conditions, among others. Over 30 works in a variety of media including oil, gouache, and acrylic paintings, silkscreen, video, photography, digital art, and mixed media will be on view until August 4, 2023.
On the Edge, Al Borde is presented with the support from The Prairie Foundation and the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Laredo College.”
