From Lubbock Art Depot:
“For one night only a pop-up art show presented by a local women’s art collaborative, “The Vulvas”, called Evocative Disobedience: LARGE, LOUD, and FREE will be on display. The exhibit demonstrates solidarity among diverse artists, performers, and makers. “Evocative Disobedience” is a term that refers to a form of resistance or activism that challenges established norms, rules, or systems in a way that is thought-provoking, impactful, and emotionally charged. It involves using creative, artistic, or symbolic means to express dissent and provoke social or political change. “The Vulvas” consists of local feminist artists, Katy Ballard, Tricia Earl, and Leslie Sotomayor. The trio formed out of the need to carry on the tradition of awakening a collective consciousness and inspiring change through art and activism forming our own “ARTivism” on the South Plains of Texas.”
