From the Gallery by MUI:
“From March 1 through March 31, 2022, The Gallery by MUI will be hosting their online exhibit, In Spring. The exhibition features the work of over 30 artists, presenting 31 works, and representing 13 countries.
“In Spring explores women in their entirety, in their own words. This online exhibition is centered on the themes of growth, change, and identity, and showcases the work of female creators and artists only.” This exhibit, curated by Gallery Creative Director Maria Ilochi, shows artworks, photographs, and sculpture that both celebrate and represent women in art. Asked about the online art exhibition, Ilochi said that the goal was to highlight and spotlight women that create. “Women are often spoken over and disregarded. I wanted to curate a collection of work that honors women in their own words. I decided to host this exhibit during Women’s History Month to honor those that came before us, and those that will surely effect change in the future.”
The exhibition encompasses all the visual arts: painting, drawing, photography, pottery, sculpture, and performance. “We did not want to limit this open call in any way – from medium to location,” Ilochi adds. The selected artists in no particular order are Zeynep Çakar, Niko Mitsuko, Ksenia Sokolovskaya, Morgan Ford Willingham, Jenna Asker, Nele Ouwens, Rebecca Gonzalez, Rutvi Vakharia, Rae Freville, Mariken Heijwegen, Monica Estrada-Saldana, Yin Lu, Olga Grechanova, Kateryna Bortsova, Surabhi Gulwelkar, Sarah Liss, Bethani Blake, Nina Kouklaki, Leila Bakouche, Joval Oshone-Umoru, Millie Jackson Rowe, Anastasiya Krokhmal, Josey Jessee, Kadiatou Coulibaly, Shona Wardrop, Grace Awe, Hanne Margaretha Biedilæ, Dalia Carny-Baruch, Shokoufeh Karimi, Zorbari Dinee-Laago, Kemi Adelugba Onyenuwe.
