The Galveston Arts Center presents the work of Letitia Huckaby in her exhibition LA 19 (Daughters of God). Huckaby’s work blends quilting and photography while paying homage to the her own family who lived on or off of Louisiana’s state highway number nineteen. Focusing on the female members of her family, each subject is captured in documentary style photography which explores Huckaby’s personal history. These photographs are then transferred onto scrap fabric and pieced together as a fabric collage or quilted photograph. The curator of the exhibition, Clint Willour, will lead a gallery talk with the artist at 6:30 pm.
