“Renowned artist Shawn Saumell invites audiences to explore the intricate layers of our environmental crisis and socio-economic impacts through his solo exhibition titled “Paradise Still Lost.” This captivating showcase, featuring mural-sized conceptual photographs printed on brushed aluminum, will be held at the Mesquite Arts Center from April 1st to June 22nd, 2024. Shawn Saumell, a New York native currently residing and working in Dallas, is a distinguished artist with a profound understanding of the human condition and its intersection with nature. Armed with an MFA from Lesley University College of Arts and Design, Saumell brings a wealth of artistic knowledge and expertise to his thought- provoking creations. Each meticulously crafted piece in “Paradise Still Lost” is composed of over one hundred unique photographs, skillfully woven together to form visually striking landscapes. Through a process of digital painting, Saumell imbues these landscapes with a profound sense of irony and satire, inviting viewers to delve beneath the surface and uncover the myriad issues plaguing our world today. About Shawn Saumell: Shawn Saumell is a New York-born artist currently based in Dallas. With a diverse educational background, including an MFA from Lesley University College of Arts and Design, a BFA from Texas Woman’s University, and an AA from Collin College, Saumell’s work explores the complex relationship between humanity and the environment. Through his visually striking creations, Saumell seeks to spark meaningful conversations about pressing social and environmental issues, as well as our perception of reality.
