From Umbrella Gallery:
“Through the art of the Woodcut, Artist/ Printmaker, Terri Thoman has brought to life a conversation with the Animals of the Chinese Zodiac. The four foot tall Woodblock Prints invite the viewer to connect with these twelve magnificant creatures, discover their personalities and how they translate to our own.
The whimsy of these images, lure you to join in the conversation, see how Ms. Thoman masters the graphic element of Black and White design in her ability to use pattern and texture. Carving the images in wood with such gesture, leaving the evidence of life in each cut, then transfering this relief image onto large sheets of Japanese paper. Each print is a hand pulled original work of art.
