“Same Great Taste is an exhibition of small paintings by Melinda Laszczynski from the last few years or so. The works are made of acrylic and encrusted with a jumble of materials- found objects, paint skins, glitter- and the surfaces read as confectionary archeological sites. They are between painting and sculpture, and reflect the body and sedimentation. In the studio, Laszczynski thinks of cakes rising and falling, bodies pushing against one another, and new growth pushing through organic forms. Layers of texture and color spill out and fight for air. Overall, the work is playful and tactile.”
