From Hunt Gallery:
“Jennye Stubblefield is originally from Kentucky, but has been a studio painter in the San Antonio community for 17 years. She received her degree at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts & University of Pennsylvania; with many awards and honors. Her painted imagery is from an aerial lens and perspective. She carters flights around the US to collect visuals for the inspiration of her compositions. Even though the paintings are representational in nature; she allows the abstractions of the typography of the landscape to show, sometimes dominate. Stubblefield states that her tondo portal aesthetic, resulted from the pandemic and the inability to travel. She enjoyed creating atmospheric views of change, excitement, contemplation, and of possibilities. The ideas of the Ephemeral and Sublime are addressed in her works, alongside thoughts of water and food insecurities resulting from our present global warming situations. She is also concerned with the politics and patriarchy surrounding women’s choices, displacement of communities, and how closely it aligns with the preservation of the earth.”
