From Conduit Gallery:
“Steven J Miller’s paintings are precisely rendered fantastical architectural landscapes which meld nature and technology into idealized places for existing…..maybe in the future? The artist has created environments of stark contrasts where no living creature stirs, but the architecture and sculptural elements give plentiful hints to human industry. There is a harmony to the painted scenes, but discomfort in the perfection of what’s rendered. The work is magnified by the very flat use of paint to create a one-dimensional picture plane. Steven Miller is a Texas artist who received his M.F.A. from the University of North Texas and currently resides in Denton, Texas. Mr. Miller is a recipient of the Fulbright Memorial Scholarship in 1998, which involved an extended study/travel opportunity in Japan. He has shown extensively throughout Texas and was featured in the 2012 New American Paintings blog, D Magazine and ModernHouston.net.”
