From the Nancy Littlejohn Fine Art:
“This new series of work is based on a daily meditative practice of hand cutting pieces of paper with a pair of scissors without ever cutting the paper in half. The drawings left behind are scanned into digital space, laser cut into sheets of aluminum, and then painted. I was thinking about the decisiveness of a cut and what it reveals. A perfect sheet of paper is an empty blank space but also a way of describing conformity… socially, existentially. To cut it up is to reveal the spirit hidden beneath.”
