From Collection Rert:
“Body Rites” is an experiential art exhibit by Eris Gentle that explores ritual and automatism, and the ways in which one bleeds into the other.
There are the things we do, and there are the things that do us.
Have you ever met your double?
Would you consume the last green plant on Earth?
Does time stop ticking under the water’s surface?
Hedia Koo Shunda See Kadakai is a 10 minute visual and sound experience in which conventional language is abandoned and symbolism speaks. We follow a woman on her mystical crossing from a bleak landscape of ice and torpidity to an island of spirit and sunlight as she attempts to harness her own powers of transformation. The film flows like a dream on a soundtrack of original piano and vocal soundpieces.
Eris Gentle is a multimedia artist, ritualist, psychonaut, and conjurer of dreamscapes. Conceived and produced while in quarantine, “Body Rites” is Eris’ response to the observation of physical rituals that become fluidly automatic, as if possessed by a force outside the body.
This outdoor exhibit examines the relationship between manual construction and spontaneous evolution through paintings, sculpture, film, and interactive installation, inviting you to be both observer and participant.
The opening will be held 7-10pm on Sept. 4th, and a second opportunity will take place one week later, on Saturday, Sept. 11th.”
