From Not For You Gallery:
“* Viewings are also available by appointment through our email, website and Instagram. ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: Mauro de la Tierra is a first generation Mexican American from San Antonio; a self-taught painter, sculptor, and illustrator. What began with street art transitioned into canvas and beyond. His work focuses on socio-economic challenges and generational struggles such as the prison industrial complex, poverty, addiction, and the deterioration of the earth. His work captures a side of life that is often vilified and ignored while also making a statement of love for humanity. With the use of spray paint, acrylic, and oil paints, Mauro creates heavy textures on canvas in a modern and raw style of whimsical, surreal, abstract expressionism. This exhibition explores the concept of finding grace within the past, the present, and the future. Themes of finding peace, reflections of youth and connectivity between all cycles of life are also explored. “Grace” opens September 3rd from 7-11PM. (Artist’s IG: @maurodelatierra ) ABOUT THE GALLERY: Not For You Gallery (N4U) opened in May of 2021 by co-owners Edward Perez and Ursula Zavala, who are both artists from southside San Antonio. The space functions as both a studio space for the owners and as a gallery space for monthly exhibitions. N4U welcomes everyone no matter what background you come from and hopes to provide a space where artists are free to speak their truths. The gallery is located at the Upstairs Studios at the iconic Blue Star Arts Complex.”
