From the organizers:
“Local artist + curator Moya McIntyre is producing the second showing of the much loved group show ‘The Femme Abstract’. This multi-artist group exhibition will feature all local female abstract artwork in a 20,000 sf space at 979 Springdale (next door to Groundfloor Theatre).
The show will kick off on New Years’ Eve with an opening reception. The socially distanced celebration is for those who want to view the work in person. Face masks are required, 10% of the capacity of the building will be allowed in the space, and the hand sanitizer will flow like the champagne. For those that can’t come in person to celebrate, the show be open for private viewings and an opportunity for virtual viewing will be published soon.
This exhibition won Best Group Exhibition in 2019 from the Austin Critics Table and was named one of the five must see stops on the Studio Tour by the Austin Chronicle. The show featured over 50 artists and welcomed over 2000 viewers. This year’s version may be smaller and socially distanced, but will be equally as potent. A roster of featured artists and images will be released in mid-December.
