Since childhood rigid construct of gender-stereotypical thinking have been embedded into our minds. Phrases like “boys will be boys” forces the belief that males are preprogramed and biologically wired to be tough, aggressive, and brave. So what about women? They should be feminine, kind, dutiful, and nurturing…right?
GIRLS will be GIRLS is an all women art exhibition that seeks to demolish the expectation our society has developed of women. It is a peek into the various lives of women who, through their wide-ranging ages, experiences, career paths, and stages of life, are uncovering personal encounters of sexism, objectification, documenting motherhood, evaluating identity, gender roles, and challenging societal expectations and standards of beauty.
