Irwin scrim show granted

by Bill Davenport December 8, 2010

The Chinati Foundation in Marfa has been approved for a grant of $50,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the Robert Irwin Project, which will transform Fort D.A. Russell’s 13,000 square foot former hospital building into a permanent art installation. In Marfa, WWJD stands for "what would Judd do?", and according to Chinati director Marianne Stockebrand, Judd had hoped that a large piece by Irwin would one day become part of Chinati’s collection. Chinati is one of 1,057 not-for-profit orgs recommended for grants this year, presumably several in Texas, but Chinati’s press release came first!
