Wardlaw honored at Wellesley

by Bill Davenport February 9, 2010

Art Historian and TSU prof Alvia Wardlaw will receive an Alumnae Achievement Award at her alma mater, Wellesley College, on February 11, joining Hillary Clinton and Madeleine Albright among the school’s high-powered alumnae honorees. Since graduating in 1969, Wardlaw has been a major force in developing the field of African-American art history and establishing its place in the larger discipline of American art, with exhibitions on John Biggers and the Quilts of Gee’s Bend.
