Houston’s Gremillion and Co. is hosting Art of the Steppes, a 10-day benefit show of Mongolian art for the development of a non-profit Mongol House for cultural preservation in the Houston area, opening this Thursday, Feb 26 from 6-8. Some antique Buddhas and work from 20 contemporary artists from the collection of Mongolian impresario Natsag Gankyuhag will be there (on sale, maybe?) Anyway, the Mongolian Vice Minister of Culture will be there, too! Work from "the school of" Zanabazar, the 18th century Buddhist ruler of Mongolia, it’s "greatest sculptor" and a linear descendant of Genghis Khan provides the tie-in to the Genghis Khan show that opens at the Houston Museum of Natural Science Friday the 27th.
