From from TCC:
“The Black Lives Matter Movement birthed the images created in The Talk. While the artist holds in high regard the men and women in uniform, this work addresses the many social injustices and systemic inequities that result in higher incarceration rates, racial profiling, and fatalities of black men. The Talk that black families have to have with their sons is a result of a criminal justice system rooted in slavery, Jim Crow Laws, and segregation. The faceless men symbolize this issue’s victims, while the figure-less portraits are the stories not told absent in the news and social media. The Talk is one that we must engage in to address and fix it.
Mr. Darough’s work has been exhibited widely in national and international exhibitions. He has received numerous awards for his photographic works and was a finalist for the prestigious Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture.”
