September 9 - 30, 2022
From Harris County Cultural Arts Council:
“HCCAC specializes in highlighting, what is currently considered as, East Harris County’s hidden arts and cultural life. The mission of the organization is to increase arts and cultural visibility through programming, initiatives, and collaborations by presenting programs like Cruzando Fronteras/Crossing Borders: A Visual Art Exhibit as well as HCCAC’s newly launched Artist in Residence Program as the leading vehicle.
LAWAH’s extensive list of Latin American Women Artists actively look for opportunities to collaborate and create art that would enrich Houston’s cultural history. The latest collaboration with HCCAC will present an opportunity to bring a more powerful voice to the Houston arts community by expanding the Latino narrative through its artistic contributions.
Following the opening reception, LAWAH will host a series of workshops and artist talks throughout September. Dates and programming are as follows:
Saturday, 9/24
DRESSMAKING (11A -1P)
ART THERAPY (11A -1P)
MURAL MAKING (11A -3)
Sunday, 9/25

ABOUT HARRIS COUNTY CULTURAL ARTS COUNCIL
The Harris County Cultural Arts Council (HCCAC) is a BIPOC-founded and led non-profit arts organization serving unincorporated East Harris County. Its cultural center serves as the premier destination for residents, artists, and tourists to experience the rich arts and culture in the area. HCCAC works to eradicate the cultural desert that currently exists in the area by providing a space for art to thrive and for those in underrepresented areas to participate without leaving their community. HCCAC’s mission is to increase arts access for underserved communities and to preserve, share, and celebrate the histories and cultures of Black and Latinx people. Through its programs and events, HCCAC provides the community with creative experiences centered through a culturally relevant lens.”
