From the organizers:
“Katy Heinlein doesn’t have much interest in making work that just sits there politely on a pedestal. While firmly sculpture, her work parallels painting in its use of materials: stretcher bars, fabric, pigment, as well as fashion, employing draping techniques over shapes and forms. She created this work specifically for the Partnership Tower Lobby. She expresses her playful sense of humor through cartoonish curves, soft sculpture, and squishy shapes. Brightness and reflection contrasts with tension and gravity. Her sculptures not only pierce the seriousness of minimalism with a sprinkling of humor, but also probe the sublime and inexplicable.”
