November 8 - December 14, 2019
“This exhibition of new paintings by Washington DC based artist Lindsay McCulloch coincides with her Artist Residency at TCC South.
Her exhibition “Conversations in Paradise” is an ongoing series that envisions each painting as an imagined conversation between McCulloch and another female artist. “Paradise” refers to Paradise Island, where Wonder Woman lived with the Amazonians. Regarded as a Utopia, the island was governed by Aphrodite’s Law which said the women would remain immortal as long as no man set foot on the island. By establishing the gallery as Paradise, McCulloch is creating a female-centric vision of art history to counteract male-dominated traditional art historical narratives.”
