This exhibition by Cameroon-born and Houston-based artist Rosine Kouamen is centered around a site-specific textile sculpture, which references traditional African hierarchical and societal structures.

Art League Houston is thrilled to present a panel discussion in conjunction with current exhibition, Aujourd’hui Causons Avec Nos Aïeux: Intimate and Foreign by Rosine Kouamen. This discussion will examine the African immigrant experience as it relates to contemporary art-making, in particular how traditional values and regional cultures become the foundation for and relate to a contemporary approach to African art, as well as explore how African artists translate personal and cultural identity into their work.
