September 1 - November 6, 2011
A retrospective of photograpic works by San Antonio artist Chuck Ramirez, who had a knack for giving us a second look at the cultural, economic and existential implications in the most commonplace of objects. His 1997 Coconut series slyly subverted stereotypes of those who cross cultural boundaries; before his untimely death in a 2010 bicycle accident, he photographed filled garbage bags, dying flowers, and battered, piñatas to reflect on the fleeting nature of human existence.
