August 28 - November 14, 2010
The new exhibition at the Austin Museum of Art, From Process to Print: Graphic Works by Romare Bearden, investigates the ways that preeminent American artist, Romare Bearden (1911-1988), mastered the medium of printmaking. Seventy-five prints created over thirty years are on view and the exhibition is organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions, Los Angeles, with the help of the Romare Bearden Foundation. The works in the exhibition show Bearden’s literary, biblical, mythological, popular culture and western and non-western themes that were informed by his African American cultural experiences.
