“Toys in the Attic” shows the transference of Lucas Aoki’s characters which have leapt from his paintings into the physical realm as vibrant small-scale sculptures and mixed media pieces. Many symbols of this show are marks of a personal and artistic turning point, combining painting, repurposed objects, and sculpture in a journey that balances Lucas’s past with the exploration of new ideas and experiences.
Lucas Aoki is a multi-disciplinary artist from Córdoba, Argentina. Based in Austin, Texas since 2007, Lucas is best known for his large-scale murals. Lucas brings a fresh perspective to sculpture, creating playful and mysterious worlds that invite audiences to reconnect with their inner child.”
