July 20 - August 30, 2024
From Inman Gallery:
“Weathervane, installed in our main gallery, presents skyscapes and landscapes interacting with bright abstractions to explore the elemental essence of summer. The shapes, colors, and scenes on view capture our varied interactions with the environment during this season. Showing both still and stormy moments, the show evokes a languid sense of time fitting for these hot, long days.
The exhibition is accompanied by a poem of the same title written by Donna J. Harkness in 1940 (all rights reserved to the author and Talaria Publication). Transcribed by hand on the gallery walls, the last stanza reads:
Rebel or yield, the winds of fate
Blow soft or strong, bring loss or gain-
Henceforth, around I turn, meet life,
As yielding as a weather vane.”
